Nonfiction books have the ability to help people improve their lives, and I enjoy helping the authors of these books put together a plan and strategy to get their books in front of the readers who need it most!

Nonfiction authors typically have more to offer beyond their book alone, and it’s fun to work with these authors to build a marketing strategy that can benefit their brand for years to come.

What is the origin of your business? When did your company begin and why?

I started my publishing career at a nonfiction imprint at HarperCollins, working with some of the biggest names in Christian publishing. I managed book launches for multiple New York Times bestsellers, including a book that sold over a million copies.

In 2019 my husband and I moved overseas and started my own book marketing company, Book Rockstar, and began consulting with other publishing houses as well as working with independent authors on building better marketing strategy for their books.

There are so many authors out there with great books, but without a marketing plan these books never reach their potential. I created Book Rockstar as a way to teach the marketing strategies used by Big-5 publishers and bestselling authors to more people who need to learn it.

What piece of advice would you like to offer authors?

A good marketing plan start with clarity on your target reader–who they are and how to talk to them in a meaningful way. Nailing this down is the first thing every author should do! Why? Because this filters into every aspect of your plan.
